Second Annual Beach Ball a Hit!

Despite the chilly temperatures and rain outside, the Junior League of Champlain Valley’s second annual Beach Ball was hot, hot, hot! Over 100 people attended this year’s event and helped raise approximately $10,000 to benefit the League’s community service programs that help women, children and families at risk in the Champlain Valley.

The Beach Ball was held Friday April 4, 2008 at the Catamount Country Club in Williston, Vermont. Once again, the room was transformed into a tropical paradise thanks to the efforts of Libby Corran and Chris Inslee and their team of helpers. Attendees enjoyed a spread of savory appetizers followed by a buffet of delicious desserts generously donated by Chef’s Corner. We danced the night away in a tropical paradise to the fun music provided by DJ John Hill. Ann Irwin won the spot dance contest, and Kaki and Matt McGeary won the twist contest, both judged by Mac Keyser.

Attendees bid on fabulous silent auction items worth over $7000, raising awareness and
funding for JLCV programs including Kids in the Kitchen, Camp Knock Knock and Ronald McDonald House. Special thanks to our silent auction item donors!

Excitement was in the air as the Calcutta drew to a close. JLCV members Amy Beaumier and Kit Antinozzi were the last two people in the Calcutta, and they chose to strike a deal to split the grand prize of $1000. The final ball was Amy's (making her the winner two years in a row!), winning her $600! In second place, Kit took home $400 plus the Hannaford product and coupon basket valued at $100.

Many thanks to everyone who made our Beach Ball a success. Together, we raised funds to achieve our mission…it’s all about promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community. What a wonderful way to bring in Spring!
