Beach Ball 2007
The Beach Ball Calcutta fundraiser was a ball!
More than 70 people attended the JLCV’s first ever Beach Ball Calcutta on June 14, 2007 at the Elks Lodge in Burlington. The evening raised an estimated $3,000+ to support our mission and programs!
The perfect beach party setting was created by Libby Corran and Chris Inslee, along with their crew of cabana helpers…Tracy Durfee, Sandy Giroux, Ann Irwin and Catherine Willis. DJ John Hill kept the night moving with great music, a limbo contest, a twist contest and a “spot dance”,not to mention the Calcutta itself!
Great prizes were given away at every fifth ball. Prizes included donated items such as a handblown hurricane from Simon Pearce, a $200 gift certificate to the Inn at Shelburne Farms, an overnight at the Inn at Essex, gift certificates to area retailers and restaurants, tickets to Brad Paisley at the Champlain Valley Exposition, and more. We can’t thank our generous donors enough.
Excitement was in the air as we moved closer and closer to the top 10 finalists, and our grand prize of $1,500. With just two balls remaining, a deal was struck. The big winner of the night, our own Amy Hird, took home $1,000 and the runner-up, Andy Corran, walked away with $500. Not bad for a day at the beach!
Many thanks to everyone who made our Beach Ball a success.Together, we raised funds to achieve our mission…promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community.
